Product identification
| Product | Type | Measures |
|---|---|---|
| Sunmatched Climate | Climate | temperature and humidity |
| Sunmatched Climate Pro | Climate Pro | temperature, humidity and air pressure |
Both types are solar-powered wireless sensors for indoor use, with a USB-C input (5 V) for topping up. The label on each sensor shows the type and a unique serial number. Photos of both types are on the product pages.
Intended use
The sensors measure the indoor climate in homes and offices and send the values to smart-home systems such as Home Assistant. Use them only indoors, in dry rooms.
They are not safety devices. Do not use them as the only protection where a failure or a wrong reading could lead to injury or major damage, for example for frost protection, fire or smoke detection, or medical purposes.
Safety warnings
Please read these warnings before you use the sensor.
- Indoor use only. Do not use the sensor outdoors.
- Keep it dry. Do not put it in water, and do not place it where water can drip or splash on it.
- Do not open the case. There are no parts inside that you can service or replace.
- Keep away from small children. The sensor is not a toy. Small parts and the adhesive strip can be swallowed and cause choking.
- Avoid heat. Do not expose the sensor to temperatures above 60 °C or to direct heat sources, such as radiators, stoves or strong sunlight behind glass.
- Use a suitable power supply. Charge the sensor only with a standard USB-C power supply with 5 V output that meets the applicable safety standards. Do not use damaged cables or power supplies.
- Mount it safely. Use the adhesive strip only on clean, dry, smooth and stable surfaces, for example a wall, a window frame or a shelf. Do not mount the sensor where it could fall onto people or into water.
- Do not use a damaged sensor. Stop using it if the case is cracked or damaged, or if it gets hot, smells or swells. Unplug the USB cable and contact us.
- No fire, no force. Never throw the sensor into a fire, and do not crush or pierce it. It contains a lithium-ion capacitor (see below).
Energy storage
The sensor contains no battery. It stores solar energy in a lithium-ion capacitor, which combines features of a supercapacitor and a lithium-ion battery. The capacitor is permanently installed. Do not try to remove it.
Damaged lithium components can overheat and cause fires, for example in waste collection vehicles. Never put the sensor in household waste. Dispose of it as described below.
Radio
The sensors use Bluetooth Low Energy and IEEE 802.15.4 (for Zigbee and Thread) in the 2.4 GHz band (2400–2483.5 MHz). The user manual states the maximum transmit power.
Declaration of conformity
Dunkel Engineering declares that the radio equipment types Climate and Climate Pro comply with the Swiss Ordinance on Telecommunications Installations (FAV), with Directive 2014/53/EU (Radio Equipment Directive) and with Directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS).
The full text of the declaration of conformity will be available for download on our support page. Until then, we send it to you on request: write to info@dunkel-engineering.ch.
Report a safety problem
If you notice a safety problem or have had an accident with one of our products, please tell us right away: by email to info@dunkel-engineering.ch or by phone on +41 78 713 88 90. We look into every report.
If a product turns out to be unsafe, we contact the affected customers directly and publish a safety notice on this page.
Disposal of old devices
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the sensor or its packaging means: do not put the device in household waste. Old electrical and electronic devices must be collected separately. This way, valuable materials can be recycled, and harmful substances do not end up in the environment or harm human health.
- Delete your data first. Before you dispose of a sensor, reset it to factory settings in the app. This deletes stored data such as the measurement history, pairings and network data. You are responsible for deleting personal data on old devices.
- Hand in the complete device. The sensor contains no battery that you need to remove. The lithium-ion capacitor is permanently installed. Do not remove it.
Where to return old devices free of charge
- Switzerland: at any shop that sells devices of this kind, without having to buy anything, and at the collection points of SENS eRecycling (www.erecycling.ch) and Swico (www.swico.ch). This is based on the Swiss ordinance on the return, taking back and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (VREG).
- Liechtenstein: at the collection points for electrical and electronic devices; your municipality can tell you where they are.
- To us: you can also send our sensors back to us for disposal. Write to hello@sunmatched.com, and we tell you how to send them free of charge.
Packaging
Please dispose of the packaging according to the rules where you live, for example cardboard with the paper recycling.
